Meet Dr. Renee Shirley McIntosh, DDS, MS, MDS
Dr. Renee McIntosh is excited to join Dr. Daniel Hinckley at Yellow Monkey Dental as an orthodontic provider! Inspired by her mom’s experience as a nurse and her twin sister’s experience as an orthodontist, Dr. McIntosh is now creating healthier, beautiful smiles in San Angelo.
Dr. McIntosh combines a friendly, compassionate care style with a commitment to educating her patients on every detail of treatment. With this approach, she helps her patients feel confident and comfortable throughout their orthodontic treatment.
Professional Background
Dr. McIntosh received her bachelor’s degree in Psychobiology from UCLA, going on to earn her master’s degree in Physiology & Biophysics from Georgetown University Medical Center. Her dental degree is from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and she completed her Orthodontics Residency Program at the University of Connecticut.
A lifelong learner, Dr. McIntosh is dedicated to continually improving her standard of orthodontic care. Her use of AI tools with Invisalign clear aligners and commitment to learning more about the incredible advances in orthodontic technology mean her skills as a provider are unparalleled.

Dr. McIntosh has contributed to the scientific and orthodontic community through extensive, peer-reviewed research. Her published articles include research on orthodontic miniscrews, as well as non-orthodontic research on ligamentum teres (LT) tears, hip arthroscopy, and antibacterial skin dressings. These multifaceted articles show her commitment to continuous education in the scientific field.

Outside the Office
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. McIntosh enjoys spending time with her husband (who is an endodontist) and their tortoiseshell cat, Pumpkin. As a member of the track team during her time at UCLA, she’s been a runner for years, and continues to enjoy exploring San Angelo through running. She also enjoys cooking, baking, and seeing the world through travel.
